Lalibela and its rock-hewn churches
A priest with some of the treasures of the Bete Gabriel-Rufael (St. Gabriel-Rafael) church, the most southerly in the eastern group of rock-hewn churches in Lalibela. This may also have been a fortified Aksumite royal palace as early as the 7th or 8th century.
