Empire of Ethiopia, 1941
In 1941 Italy was defeated, and Haile Selassie restored to the throne. The Ethiopian flag was restored as the national flag on 5 May 1941. A Royal State flag was introduced on that day as well, featuring the crowned Lion of Judah, carrying a cross in the central stripe. The three coloured pennants fly from the cross. The flag is a link between the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, the peoples, and the nation.
