The apses (4th and 6th century BCE) with its mosaic floor and columns of the 4th century Christian Chrysopolitissa basilica, the largest Early Byzantine basilica on the island and destroyed in 653 during Arab raids. The smaller Panagia Chrysopolitissa church was built behind it in the 13th century. It became the Byzantine Cathedral of Kato (Lower) Paphos following the Turkish invasion of 1570.
