The Abduction of Ganymede Mosaic

A mosaic floor panel in the central court of the Greco-Roman House of Dionysos. It represents the mythological scene of the abduction of Ganymede, a divine hero whose homeland was Troy. The god Zeus, having transformed himself into an eagle, carries Ganymede away, to serve as cup-bearer in Olympus, the home of the Greek gods.
