Paphos, the south-west of Cyprus
Paphos Castle, on the edge of Paphos harbour, originally built as a Byzantine fort and rebuilt by the Lusignans in the thirteenth century. Dismantled by the Venetians in 1570, it was restored and strengthened by the Ottomans. It was a fortress, a prison, a salt warehouse, and it is a museum now.
