Dubrovnik, the historic Ragusa Republic
View from the city wall above the Pile Gate along the Stradun (or Placa), the thoroughfare in the Old Town of Dubrovnik. At left is the St. Saviour Church (Crkva svetog Spasa), a tiny 1520s church, a survivor of a 1667 earthquake, with a mix of Gothic and Renaissance architecture and the Franciscan Church with its bell tower. At the end of the street is the 15th-century clock tower in Luža Square.
