Bolivia Civil Flag, 1825

Bolivia declared its independence from Spain in 1825 and adopted a flag consisting of a band of dark red (in Spanish “punzo”) between two of green; in the centre is a gold star surrounded by an oval, formed by a laurel and tree branch. This is the “Bandera Menor”, the civil flag, adopted on 17 August 1825.
