Along the Barkly Highway
A memorial honouring the Kalkadunga (Kalkadoon) tribe, which resisted the invasion by the whites, was a bicentennial tribute by the patron of the Mitakoodi Association, Cloncurry and opened on 11 September 1988, along the Barkly Highway near Mount Isa. Unfortunately thoughtless vandals have shot at the Aboriginal head and pried away two of the commemorative plaques.
