Shields and sticks

Ceremonial wooden “kurdiji”, (shields) with decorations relating to “owl” dreaming (left) and “ngarlu” or sugarbag dreaming and women's dancing sticks prepared for a “Ngajakula” or “Kurangarra” ceremony in Lajamanu. Designs are painted and stuck on with “wamurlu”, wild cotton, dyed with red ochre.
