Along the west coast of Western Australia
The HSK Kormoran Memorial, on Olivia Terrace in Carnarvon. It commemorates the German sailors from the merchant cruiser HSK “Kormoran” who died or were killed during an engagement which sunk the H.M.A.S. Sydney in November 1941 somewhere west of Carnarvon. The Kormoran was also sunk in this engagement, but 317 of its crew of 397 were rescued.
