Black Mountain or Kalkajaka

Black Mountain or Kalkajaka, 30 kilometres south of Cooktown. It is an enormous heap of loose granite, stained black by algae, about 470 metres high, originally formed out of magma that first slowly solidified under the Earth's crust about 250 million years ago.
